Palestinian Hamas and Israeli officials start mediated negotiations in the Egyptian city on the US Palestinian peace plan.

Mediated discussions working toward a final agreement on a Trump administration initiative to stop the conflict in Gaza have begun in the Egyptian city of the Egyptian resort town.

Middle Eastern and regional officials have stated that the discussions are concentrating on "preparing the environment" for a possible exchange that would result in the liberation of all captured Israelis in exchange for a number of detained Palestinians.

Hamas has said it consents to the peace plan proposals in part, but has omitted reference to several essential conditions - including its military demobilization and political participation in Gaza.

Israel's prime minister said on the weekend that he hoped to announce the release of detained individuals "soon"

The talks, which will see regional and international officials holding shuttle meetings with representatives from both the two sides individually, occur on the verge of the 24-month point of the Hamas-led attack on Israeli territories on the initial attack date, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 individuals were captured.

The detailed initiative, which has been endorsed by the Trump administration and Israeli officials, outlines an quick halt to fighting and the liberation of 48 detained individuals, only 20 of whom are considered surviving, in return for hundreds of incarcerated individuals.

It did not specifically mention or endorse the comprehensive proposal but said it "reaffirms its commitment to relinquish the management of the Gaza Strip to a local administration of professionals, established through regional unity and regional endorsement"

The statement made no mention of one of the essential conditions of the plan – that Hamas agree to its disarmament and to ceasing political participation in the administration of Gaza.

International Response

Local residents described the group's reaction to the peace plan as unanticipated, after days of indications that the organization was considering denial or at least substantially modify its acceptance of the US framework.

Alternatively, Hamas refrained from including its customary boundaries in the formal declaration, a move many interpret as a evidence of external pressure.

European and Middle Eastern officials have welcomed the initiative. The governing body, which governs parts of the disputed regions, has described the Trump administration actions as "authentic and resolute"

Defense personnel is implementing an combat campaign in the urban area, which it has said is aimed at obtaining the freeing of the remaining hostages.

An official representative, representing the territory's Hamas-run civil defence, indicated that "humanitarian convoys have been authorized access for Gaza City since the offensive began four weeks ago"

Hundreds of thousands of Gaza City have been compelled to evacuate after the armed services ordered evacuations to a designated "humanitarian area" in the south, but further countless people are thought to have stayed.

Israel's defence minister has warned that those who stay during the military operation would be "combatants and their sympathizers"

In the previous day, 21 individuals have been fatally injured in Gaza and a further 96 wounded, the local medical authorities said in its most recent report.
